    Ardgillan Castle is an 18th Century country house and grounds. It was originally called Prospect House and boasts spectacular views over Drogheda Bay to the hulking Mourne Mountains in the north. The interior of the house was painstakingly restored to its historic designs in the early s. The name Ardgillan comes from the Irish name 'Ard Chioll' meaning High Wood.   Ardgillan Castle is a country house in Balbriggan, Fingal, Ireland. It is set in the acre ( km 2) Ardgillan Demesne. Featuring castellated embellishments, the building overlooks Barnageera Beach, the Irish Sea and Balbriggan. The castle consists of two storeys over a basement, which extends under the south lawns.

    A Skerries ex-primary school teacher and a photographer friend have just launched a new book chronicling the history of one of North Dublin's much-loved treasures, Ardgillan Castle. Ardgillan is a popular local park, with a mix of woodlands and large grass open spaces. The park contains a walled herb garden, rose garden, Victorian conservatory, tea rooms an ice house. and a children's playground. The house was built by the Reverend Robert Taylor in .

      Ardgillan Castle has been on the to-do list for a while, so a last weekend we decided to make the most of the end-of-summer sunshine and take a trip to Balbriggan. The Taylors continued to inhabit Ardgillan Castle up until when the last branch of the Taylor family that lived here sold the house to a German Industrialist, Heinrich Pott. Basil Richard Taylor and his wife Gwen had come to Ardgillan in from Singapore. Ardgillan remained the family home of the Taylors (later changed to Taylour) for more than two hundred years up until when the estate was sold to Heinrich Potts of Westphalia, Germany.

InDublin County Council purchased Ardgillan Demesne and it is now managed by Ardgillan Castle Ltd. under the auspices of Fingal County Council.
